Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to this week’s feature!
I was so excited to get the chance to interview romance author Samantha Michaels, especially since having read her work myself!
To start off my interview with author Samantha Michaels I first asked what inspired her to start writing in the first place. Here’s what Samantha said!
“I’ve been a reader as far back as I can remember. I was extremely shy and didn’t have a lot of friends. Instead, I imagined myself in my books and added on to the stories in my head. As I got older I started putting those stories on paper, first just for myself, then for a small group of friends. Now, I have five books published and plenty more on the way!”
Imagination is always the best for inspiration! That being said, my next question for author Samantha Michaels was what steered her towards writing in the steamy romance genre. Here is what she said!
“I credit my love of 80s hair metal. So many of those songs were varying degrees of naughty. I enjoyed the little mini-stories those songs told and wanted to expand those into longer stories.”
I have to agree, music is definitely an inspiration for me as well when it comes to my writing. After all, songs are just little stories! 😉
Next in our interview, I asked author Samantha Michaels where she found most of her story ideas come from? Here is Samantha’s answer!
“For some reason, my home bathroom is my thinking place. I routinely have characters join me in the shower and tell me their stories. Then, I’m forced to remember everything they said until I can jot some notes in one of my many notebooks!”
The shower is a great thinking spot! I knew I’d eventually get an author who chooses that option from the interview question! LOL.
Up next for our interview, I asked author Samantha Michaels if she could tell everyone a bit about her personal writing journey. Here’s Samantha’s comment!
“I can’t believe it’s only been a little over a year. It has been quite a rollercoaster. I came onto the scene knowing very little, and not knowing where to seek answers. I quietly published my first book to Amazon, then started searching for groups to join. I definitely made some mistakes at the beginning. My writing has also come a long way in that time.”
I have to agree with you there as well, the entire experience is dodging one curve ball after another! But rewarding in the end! 😊
Putting the writing to the side for a moment, I asked author Samantha Michaels if she could tell everyone a bit about her home life!
“I was born, raised and still live in a small town in Pennsylvania, USA. I married my high school sweetheart. We have a gorgeous black lab we adopted from a shelter. When I’m not writing I enjoy reading, poker, watching sports, and spending time with my husband and dog.”
Nearing the end of our interview, my last question for author Samantha Michaels was if she had anything new coming out soon she would like to announce!
“For 2022 I’m releasing four novellas, one for each season. Each book’s release is set for the first day of that season. Rockin’ Spring was released in March. I’m currently nearing completion of Rockin’ Summer, which will be released on June 21. I also just announced participation in an anthology to benefit Ukraine.”
